WP5.1: Design of fire tests and preliminary investigations
Aims:
- Development of test concepts including the design of the fire load, the definition of installations and set-ups, specifications for ignition
- Preparation of a measurement concept adapted to the test requirements as well as specifications for the safe conduction of the fire tests
Intended results:
- Test concepts for conducting fire tests to validate the developed fire fighting, detection and activation systems for stationary and battery-integrated systems (for usage in WP 5.2 and 5.3)
WP5.2: Conducting fire tests with battery-integrated extinguishing systems
Aims:
- Validation of the battery-internal extinguishing system concepts
Intended results:
- Report on the test results
Evaluation of the performance of the tested battery-integrated extinguishing systems
Chemical analyses of the fire residues as well as the contamination of the extinguishing media for usage in WP 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7
WP5.3: Conducting fire tests with external firefighting and detection systems
Aims:
- Validation of the firefighting concepts for stationary applications
- Generalization of the obtained results for relevant energy storage types
- Collection of further scientific data from the fire tests for usage in further hazard prevention concepts
Intended results:
- Analysis of the performance of extinguishing and detection systems and their interaction
- Report on the test results
- Chemical analyses of fire residues as well as contamination of extinguishing media for usage in WP 4.5, 4.6, and 4.7
WP5.4: Development of simulation tools for the scalability of experimental results
Aims:
- Development of simulation tools for the use in risk assessment and fire suppression planning
Intended results:
- Report of results
- Simulation tool (software)
