AP3.1: Characterization of suitable extinguishing agents and methods

- FOGTEC, BUW, HHI, Lobbe
Aims:
- Collection of technically feasible extinguishing strategies
- Evaluation of different extinguishing concepts for internal and external fire fighting of battery fires
- Evaluation criteria for different extinguishing agents and concepts with regard to reduction of overall damage and compatibility for subsequent disposal and cleaning
Intended results:
- Determination of the best extinguishing agent depending on the situation ( transfer to WP 4)
- Evaluation of interfaces between intervention (“extinguishing”) and postvention (“disposal/cleaning”)
WP3.2: Usage of coolants for fire fighting inside the battery pack
Participants:
- FOGTEC, BUW, HHI, technotrans
Aims:
- Description of new technology approaches for battery-integrated suppression systems
Intended results:
- Demonstrating extinguishing possibilities with battery coolant (transfer to WP 4.4)
- Evaluation and hazard assessment of extinguishing agents with regard to contaminants
